 Introduction
Stockcar racing is one of the fastest growing sports in North America. PEI
has its own track and drivers. Saturday night you can join more than a
thousand people and watch our Jeff Gordon's and Dale Earnhart Jr.'s race
around a quarter mile oval track.
Stockcar races are held Saturday nights in Oyster Bed Bridge, from May
through September. These races are extremely intense not only for the
driver, but for the crew as well as the fans sitting in the stands. It is an
exciting sport that has both crews and fans jumping to their feet as their
favorite driver takes the checkered flag or sometimes takes a piece of the
wall.
Race Team #86 is dedicated to the sport of Stockcar racing. We consider
our sponsors to be part of our team and always take pride in our
sportsmanship, appearance and performance. You can be sure that having
your name on our car will be taken seriously. Race Team #86 knows how
important it is to you to have your business receive the best possible
exposure, and that is why Race Team #86 takes the car to numerous displays
around the Island during the race season to promote the sport and our
sponsors. Race Team #86 also donates the car for the annual CELEBRITY
CAMP GENCHEFF RACE. Your sponsorship also includes positive verbal
promotion.
With the dedication of all the drivers, crews, families, spectators and
sponsors, the future of Stockcar racing on PEI has been increasing every
year. It is sure to continue with the sons and daughters sitting in the stands
dreaming about their racing debut!
 Raceway Park
Raceway Park is Atlantic Canada's only dual racetrack facility, hosting a quarter
mile high-banked stockcar oval as well as a quarter mile drag strip. The 2006 race
season will be the 20th year in operation for the racetrack and is shaping up to be
another exciting season of racing. The regular program for a Saturday night
features Hobby, Street Stock and Modified divisions. On special weekends,
Raceway Park features the PROSTOCK TOUR, the MARITIME LEGENDS TOUR,
demolition derby, enduro races, and lots more excitement.
Raceway Park receives promotional coverage every week in The Guardian. The
paper features the race results along with an article re-counting the race events.
Raceway Park also received international coverage in the spring of 1999, in
Stockcar Racing magazine. This is the first time that any Canadian racetrack has
received that much coverage, which according to the editor, would have been read
by approximately one million people in North America.
Tourism PEI estimates that Raceway Park generates millions of dollars for PEI in
one year. The spinoff from racing includes local retailers who make the cars and
fix the cars, gasoline and lubricant sales, trailers being built to haul the race cars
and registered, body shops, sign shops, welding shops, speed shops, auto shops,
tire shops, engine and transmission shops, fire and safety equipment and much
more.
Raceway Park has made Saturday night racing a great family outing. There is no
charge for children 12 and under, which helps make it an affordable night too.
Attendance on a regular race night averages 1,500 to 2,000 spectators and on
special race events, the average attendance soars to a high of 4,500 to 5,000.
This is only the fans, don't forget about the drivers, crews and workers in the pit
(garage) area.
Owner/Driver
Fred Duffy is the proud owner and driver of the car. Fred is a mechanic/co-
owner of Duffy's Service Centre. He lives in Fort Augustus, PEI and is
married to Charlene and they have four children, Justina, Robert, Stephanie
and Ryan. He has one grandson, Ben. They all share his love of stockcar
racing and are a valuable part of the race team.
Fred grew up with racing as his father (Jack) raced at the track in Sleepy
Hollow. Fred has passed his love of the sport down to his children as well as
his numerous nieces and nephews.
2006 will be Fred's 8th year of racing in the Street Stock division. His first
year was a great learning experience for his crew and himself. Of an average
of thirty cars, he finished 15th that year. Since then he has received
numerous awards.

 The Car
Fred's car is a 1984 Buick Regal body style. It has a full roll-cage and a five-point
racing harness and a special racing seat to help ensure his safety. The engine is a
350 small block with an automatic transmission that runs in low gear for the entire
evening of racing. Safety is a primary concern of Race Team #86 and we do
everything possible to make sure the car is safe not only for Fred, but also the
other drivers on the track.
The Team
Race Team #86, Fred's pit crew is mainly made of family members. His brother's
Mike and Pat Duffy are there, along with his father. Jack Duffy. Other crew
members include, Robbie Baird (brother -in-law) and Blair DesRoches (friend).
Fred's wife Charlene does all of the paint touch-ups on the car and his mother Inez
and sister Jacqueline are in the stands keeping track of the points for the night as
well as reporting any problems on the track. Sons, daughters, grandson, nieces,
nephews and friends are the cheering section for Race Team #86. It is clear that
this is a family-oriented team where as many as 29 people could be in the stands
for this one race team, RaceTeam #86.
Sponsorship and its Benefits
Sponsoring a stockcar gives your business the opportunity to promote itself
to hundreds of people each week. It is also a great way to support a growing
sport on PEI. This sport is one of a few that create a vast economical spin-
off for the Island.
Stockcar racing draws a wide spectrum of people, both as spectators and
racers from all over Atlantic Canada. To race, all you need is a drivers
license and lots of enthusiasm. There are a growing number of young drivers
and female participants each year.
In return for your sponsorship. Race Team #86 offers you the following
benefits:
- Exposure to approximately 1500 people on a regular Saturday night of
racing and up to 4500 on special event nights. Although the majority
of these are Islanders, there are some dedicated Maritimers who
follow the PRO-STOCK TOUR, don't forget about the tourists who visit
PEI during the summer.
- Announcement of your business as being a sponsor of the car before
each race and again every time the car wins a race.
- Photo of the car is given to each sponsor to display at your business.
- Other exposure is that Race Team #86 donates the car each year to
the CAMP GENCHEFF CELEBRITY RACE. This race is made up of
celebrity people and or business owners who want to donate $500 or
more to race one race with all proceeds going to the camp.
