Fred Duffy, Partner/General Manager/Mechanic
Fred Duffy started working at Grafton Street Shell in Charlottetown at the age of 16. During his 10 years here Fred received his inspection license. He also attended automotive courses at Holland College PVI. Fred spent 5 ˝ years gaining more work experience at City Shell and was well liked and respected by many of his customers - some of whom remained loyal to Fred when he made his move to strike out on his own. Fred and his wife Charlene took over Duffy's Ultramar in Stratford in 1992. During their 12 years there Fred successfully operated and built up this small business from it's very modest beginnings. Due to their excellent reputation, Duffy's Ultramar found themselves in the frustrating situation of having more work than they were able to do as they were restricted by only having two bays. In 2004 Fred and Mike became partners and purchased Pippy's Service Centre, which is presently known at Duffy's Service Centre.

Mike Duffy, Partner/General Manager/Mechanic
Mike Duffy began his mechanic career working for Bruce Pippy at Pippy's Irving for 5 years. There he was able to learn all aspects of the service station/garage business while taking automotive classes at Holland College PVI Centre. From there Mike worked at City Shell as a mechanic for approximately a year before moving to Stevenson MacEachern Ltd. Stevenson MacEachern offered Mike a chance to gain valuable experience working on all kinds of cars, trucks, boats, motors, and heavy equipment. Mike was with Stevens for about 3 years before leaving to go with Fred when he opened Duffy's Ultramar. Mike has played a big role in managing the day to day operations at Duffy's Ultramar over their 12 years in business. During that time Mike has made a large contribution to building up an extremely loyal customer base for Duffy's Ultramar through his dedication, honesty, and expertise at what he does. Mike also operated his own business for 7 years where he has been exclusively doing service and small repairs for all of the Maritime Electric Ltd's line truck fleet on the Island, he also did snowmobile service and repairs out of his home garage. Mike and Fred continue to work under contract for Maritime Electric on evenings and weekends while operating Duffy's Service Centre during the day.

History
The Pippy name is a very well recognized name East of the Hillsboro Bridge. Bruce Pippy began operating a garage and service station, Pippy's Irving, in Mount Albion well over 30 years ago. Bruce ran an extremely successful business in that location for over 20 years. Not only was he able to provide the surrounding community with efficient, trustworthy service for all of the their mechanical needs but the station was also a very important "information" center and "drop-in meeting place" for many of the locals. As a direct result of his rol in the community, Bruce had built up a very loyal customer base. A customer base that Bruce was able to take with him when he opened Pippy's Service Centre almost 15 years ago. Bruce's decision to retire provided a great business opportunity for Mike and Fred Duffy to fill what would have been a big void in this community. Bruce and his brother Norman Pippy had been working together in the automotive repair industry for years and have been well respected in the field. Mike and Fred look forward to continuing and expanding on this well - established business.
Mike and Fred had been working together for over 12 years at Duffy's Ultramar in Stratford and had developed their own very large and loyal customer base. In April of 2004 the move was made to Hazelbrook and Mike and Fred became partners in Duffy's Service Centre in order to be able to serve their growing customer base. This has enabled us to expand into many other new and exciting services that we were unable to offer in our previous location. And hopefully we will be able to continue expanding in order to always improve our service to our customers. It is extremely important to us all that we continue to not only meet but exceed out customers expectations!
